퍼포먼스는 모든 예술 장르 중 가장 자유로운 표현형식과 표현의 폭이 가장 넓은 예술이다. 2002년 월드컵 때 서울광장을 가득 매운 붉은 의상을 입고 펼쳤던 응원의 물결도 퍼포먼스라고 할 수 있으며, 거리에서 자신의 의사를 각자의 방식으로 표현하는 것도 퍼포먼스로 전문적인 예술가뿐 아니라 누구나 퍼포머가 될 수 있는 것이다. 그런 측면에서 나 자신의 개성을 표현할 수 있는 방법을 퍼포먼스 워크숍을 통해 배워볼 수 있는 프로그램이다.
A performance is a genre of performing arts that has a wide range of ways to express. Street cheering during Korea's World Cup 2002 including expressing our own feelings in the street can be a kind of performance. The entrants can learn the way how to express ourselves through the workshop.
오라이언 막스티드는 1977년 영국에서 태어났다. 영국 브라이튼 대학(Brighton University)에서 음악과 시각예술을 전공하고 독일 베를린과 런던을 중심으로 큐레이터와 연출가, 특정 장르에 구애받지 않는 경계 없는 예술가(transdisciplinary artist)로 활동하고 있다. 또한 프로트플레이(proptpoPLAY)와 국제적인 퍼포먼스 그룹 논 그라타(Non Grata)의 멤버이기도 한 그는 영국뿐 아니라 국제적으로 아티스트를 발굴하는 기관인 테스팅 그라운즈(Testing Grounds)의 큐레이터이자 자문위원으로도 활동하고 있다.
Orion Maxted (b. 1977 in England) is an transdisciplinary artist, curator and producer based in Berlin and London, who studied Music & Visual Art at Brighton University, England. Orion is also member of protoPLAY and Non Grata international performance groups, and works for Testing Grounds an artist development organization operating in the UK and internationally as a curator and mentor.
