몸(Body)과 장소(Space), 순간(Real time), 그리고 자연(Nature). 실시간 변화하는 주변 환경, 음식을 비롯한 먹거리 재료는 물론 자연에서 나오는 대상에 반응하는 신체 경험을 즉흥적 예술기법으로 표현하는 워크숍. 움직임 그 자체는 예술처럼 보이지만 어떤 것을 ‘표현’하고자 하는 것도, ‘재현’하는 것도 아닌 지금 일어나는 ‘순간(now)’에 집중하며 만들어가는 움직임의 형태이다. 참여자는 실내와 야외를 오가는 환경에서 자연을 경험하고 상호 교감하며 자연에 맞는 장소 특정적이면서 조화로운 반응을 자신의 몸으로 표현한다. 또한 자신이 ‘존재’ 하는 순간에 느꼈던 감각(냄새, 촉각)을 이전의 기억과 연결시켜 그 느낌을 서로 공유하는 시간을 갖는다.
Body, Space, Real time and Nature. This is a kind of temporal art workshop, focusing on body experience in relation to real time environment condition, food or edible ingredients, as well as natural found object. Action as art, act of doing a body who makes, focus on now, not representing, not re-enacting but real while doing. The participants interact with the nature, and site-specific and harmonious reaction to the nature can be shown through body as a tool, followed by sharing experience the participants feel with each other.
추이아 치아의 작업은 회화부터였다. 그녀의 작업이 회화에서부터 설치미술, 퍼포먼스 아트에 이르는 데는 타고난 탐구력과 호기심 덕분이었다. 이러한 노력으로 추이아는 여러 차례 상을 받기도 했으며 해외 레지던시 프로그램에 참여할 기회도 가졌다. 그녀의 작업 영역은 이민자로서 겪었던 문화적 정체성에 대한 자기 성찰에서 환경 문제에 대한 인간의 책임, 인간관계와 소통 등 세계적 관심사로 옮겨졌다. 추이가가 생각하는 행위 예술에 있어 몸(신체)이란 갑자기 누군가와 마주쳐 그녀가 소통하는 곳에서 (추이아의 행위를) 목격하는 사람 혹은 참여자와 그녀 자신 사이를 잇는 일종의 매개체이다. 그녀는 또한 스웨덴에서 요아킴 스탬페(Joakim Stampe)와 함께 ComLab Sweden(Communication Laboratory)을 2010년에 시작해 지금까지 활동하고 있으며, 현재까지 26개국 이상, 55여 곳 이상의 도시에서 열린 수많은 국제 페스티벌과 이벤트에 적극 참여해오고 있다.
Chia Chuyia was trained in painting. Her exploration and curiosity directs her from painting to installation art and performance art. Her endeavor has earned her some awards and residencies opportunity in overseas. Her practice transited from self-reflection of her cultural identity as an immigrant, to global concerns, like environmental responsibility, human connection and communication. Her perspective in action art is that body as an agent between her subject and the witness or participants where she shares and communicates in an encounter. She initiated ComLab Sweden (Communication Laboratory) with Joakim Stampe that started since 2010 and is continuing. Chuyia has actively participated in many international festivals and events in more than 55 cities or more than 26 countries so far.
