Life is Art
리카르도는 조각, 회화, 퍼포먼스 아트, 댄스 등 여러 영역에서 세계를 배경으로 활동하는 작가이다. 그는 특정 장르에 구애받지 않고 여러 장르를 넘나드는 활동을 주로 하는데 때로는 이러한 그의 작업을 한 장르에 연결해 작품을 만들기도 한다. 리카르도는 이탈리아 마피아 카모라의 본거지인 나폴리 출신으로 일찍이 폭력과 부패, 가난에 노출된 삶을 살았다. 나폴리 대학에서 조각을 전공한 후 런던으로 이민을 한 그는 OBU(Oxford Brookes University)에서 조각의 영역을 정치적으로 확대하는 사회적 조각(Social Sculpture)으로 석사 학위를 받았다. 그가 작품뿐 아니라 작품을 보는 사람들에게 보다 충실할 수 있는 이유는 예술을 대하는 독창적이면서도 정직한 그의 태도 덕분이다.
리카르도는 러시아, 미얀마, 한국을 비롯해 그리스를 포함한 유럽에서도 널리 작업을 이어가고 있다. 수차례의 전시회와 퍼포먼스 페스티벌에서도 그는 즉흥 무용인 부토 공연을 했을 뿐 아니라 신체와 시각예술이 조합된 워크숍을 종종 진행하기도 한다.

Riccardo Attanasio Matlakas is an International artist. Matlakas work touches the field of Sculpture, painting, performance art and dance. Matlakas works mainly cross-disciplinarily and sometimes interconnecting his practices in one. Riccardo Attanasio was born in Naples, Italy, the “Camorra Land” where he is exposed to corrupting violence and poverty from an early age. At a later age he studies sculpture at University of Fine Art of Naples. Later on he emigrates to London and he gets his Master degree in Social Sculpture at Oxford Brookes University. His unique and honest approach to art makes him loyal to his practice and the audience.Attanasio showed his work extensively in Europe, Greece, Russia, Myanmar, Korea. In several painting exhibitions and performance festivals, Attanasio is also a Butoh practitioner and a contact improvisation dancer, he often leads workshops merging his visual art with physical skills.
