무엇이 우리를 움직이게 하는가. 워크숍 Birth-Way는 단순한 일상의 몸짓을 새로운 시선으로 바라보는 것을 연습함으로써 일정한 틀 속에 갇혀있는 우리의 몸과 자아를 일깨워 참나(Divine Self)에 한 걸음 다가가는 것을 내용으로 하는 일종의 명상 퍼포먼스 예술 워크숍이다. 워크숍 Birth-Way는 새로운 움직임을 찾고자 하는 것이 아니라 이미 우리 몸에 베인 움직임을 시간의 틀 밖으로 꺼내어 그 본질을 관찰하고 경험하는 시간이다. 일상의 움직임을 우주적 움직임으로 재탄생시키고 그 과정에서 우리의 몸이 주변의 풍경 속으로 자연스럽게 녹아드는 변화를 느껴 본다.
첫째 날 : 길 닦기, 길 되기, 길 걷기
둘째 날 : 알아채기, 내려놓기, 실존하기
What does make us? Workshop Birth-Way is a kind of meditative performance art workshop aiming to let us study ourselves deeper to connect with our Divine Selves by studying and experimenting sweat, tears and energy in an artistic way such as dance. This workshop brings us together to have a great experience of looking for the essence of our own movement, not being after a new one from the new perspective.

배규자는 한국에서 태어나 노르웨이에서 활동하는 작가이다. 노르웨이 국립 공연예술 대학교(Norwegian Theater Academy)에서 공연예술을 전공했으며 연극, 무용, 퍼포먼스 아트, 설치 미술, 희곡 및 동화 집필을 주 활동으로 한다. 배규자 컴퍼니(Kyuja Bae Company)의 예술 감독으로 재직하고 있다. 오슬로 부토 라보라토리움(Butoh-Laboratorium) 창단 멤버이자 PAO(Performance Art Oslo - 2012년 설립된 예술가가 직접 운영하는 단체) 멤버이다.
Kyuja Bae is an artist based in Norway originally from South Korea. Her main focusing fields of art are theater, dance, writing, installation and performance art. She is an art director of Kyuja Bae Company and an original member of Butoh Laboratorium. As well as a member of Performance Art Oslo which is an artist-run organization based in Norway.
카타리나는 시각과 행위 예술 사이의 관계에 대한 관심을 기반으로 몸을 연구하는 예술가이자 인간의 삶을 탐구하고 바라보는 관찰자이기도 하다. 그녀는 종종 깊고 순수하면서도 솔직한 관객과의 소통 방식으로 움직임이라는 것에 집중하면서 어떤 물질을 사용하거나 춤과 움직임을 통해 가상의 풍경을 발견한다. 카타리나는 전공이나 분야에 상관없이 다양한 작가와 공동 작업을 하며 Ivan Chaparro와 의상 디자이너 Rufus Backman Ossandon에 의해 시작된 리사운드시티예술작업실(Resoundcity art lab)에 있는 종합 예술인들과 공동 작업을 하고 있다.
Katarina is a moving artist, an explorer and a observer of life, interested in the relation between visual and performative art. She often explores imaginary landscapes through meetings with physical materials, dance and movement, focusing on movement as a way to communicate deeply, something pure and honest to an audience. Katarina collaborates with artists regardless specialisation and background, and are collaborating with multidisciplinary artists, amongst Resoundcity art lab, initiated by Ivan Chaparro and costume designer Rufus Backman Ossandon.
